Artist Talk with Last Nubian

We’re delighted to kick off a new season of CDR Sessions with one of London’s most distinctive producers, Last Nubian. For those new to CDR Sessions, each event includes an in-depth, production focused interview with a guest artist, exploring their career and creative process. The talk is flanked by openCDR, where producers and artists of all levels and abilities have the opportunity to play their own music on some of the best club soundsystems across the UK. All genres and styles welcomed!

Last Nubian (Tre Wright) has been steadily carving out his space in the UK music scene with distinctive explorations of house, broken beat, and, more recently, live performance. Growing up immersed in the sounds of classic UK club culture—grime, garage, funky house, and reggae—he’s shaped a style rooted in heritage but always pushing forward.

Over the years, he’s released a string of standout EPs on respected independent labels. His Ghetto Child EP garnered critical acclaim, with support from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and Mixmag, followed by Babylon Shuffle on South London’s Touching Bass, which gained attention from Gilles Peterson. Most recently, We Celebrate Us on the iconic Eglo Records further cemented his place within the UK’s vibrant underground scene.

Beyond his solo work, Wright is also a member of the forward-thinking band project Ships of the Pharaohs. As part of the Last Nubian Live experience, he’s delivered standout sets at Peckham Levels, 91 Living Room, and Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here festival, expanding his creative journey into new collaborative territory.

Join us for an in-depth conversation with Last Nubian, followed by openCDR: your chance to bring along your works-in-progress and hear them played on Corsica Studios’ world-class sound system. We keep our events as accessible as possible but if you are able, we would appreciate your support of CDR with a £5 donation ticket. Every contribution helps us continue creating space for producers and artists to connect, learn, and grow.
